Chocolate Hazelnut Rye Vegan Waffles

Ingredients
  

  • 82 g rye flour
  • 78 g all purpose flour
  • 20 g cacao powder, 3-4 tbsp depending on how strong chocolate flavour you want
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 90 g vegan butter, melted
  • 250 ml water
  • 250 ml oat milk room temperature
  • pinch of sea salt

Toppings

  • roasted hazelnuts, chopped
  • hazelnut ice cream or vanilla ice cream
  • salted date caramel syrup or chocolate syrup
  • banana slices

Instructions
 

  • Melt the butter. Whisk all of the wet ingredients together.
  • Sift in the dry ingredients and mix until combined.
  • Heat the waffle iron.
  • Cook the waffles in the waffle iron following the manufacturer's instructions.
  • Top the waffles with ice cream, syrup, chopped hazelnuts, and banana slices. Enjoy!!
