Chocolate Hazelnut Rye Vegan Waffles

Ingredients
  

  • 82 g rye flour
  • 78 g all purpose flour
  • 20 g cacao powder, 3-4 tbsp depending on how strong chocolate flavour you want
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 90 g vegan butter, melted
  • 250 ml water
  • 250 ml oat milk room temperature
  • pinch of sea salt
Toppings
  • roasted hazelnuts, chopped
  • hazelnut ice cream or vanilla ice cream
  • salted date caramel syrup or chocolate syrup
  • banana slices

Method
 

  1. Melt the butter. Whisk all of the wet ingredients together.
  2. Sift in the dry ingredients and mix until combined.
  3. Heat the waffle iron.
  4. Cook the waffles in the waffle iron following the manufacturer's instructions.
  5. Top the waffles with ice cream, syrup, chopped hazelnuts, and banana slices. Enjoy!!
