Method
- Roll the dough out into a thin layer on a baking sheet.
- Preheat oven to 180° C (or follow baking instructions on the prepared dough).
- Use a mandolin slicer or a knife to cut the apples in thin slices.
- Spread a thin layer of almond paste over the pie dough (or grate it over the whole pie).
- Place the apple slices over the almond paste.
- Sprinkle the cinnamon, cardamom and ginger over the apples. Feel free to use however much/little spice you want. Then sprinkle the brown sugar on top.
- Take a cheese slicer and thinly slice the vegan butter over the galette.
- Fold up the edges of the pie dough over the filling.
- Brush the galette crust with a bit of butter and then sprinkle the almond slices on so they stick.
- Bake the galette 30-40 minutes until the crust is a golden colour and the apple slices are soft.
- Serve with vegan vanilla ice cream and salted caramel sauce. Enjoy!!
Notes
*I used this recipe for the galette pie dough. I subbed the regular butter for vegan butter to make it vegan. To make this recipe easier you can even buy ready made dough from the grocery store to save time.
