Cardamom Vanilla Yellow Plum Jam
This Cardamom Vanilla Yellow Plum Jam is a new jam experiment for me. I’ve never made jam with yellow plums before! It’s incredibly delicious with such a pretty colour. Making jams out of foraged fruit is such an amazing feeling during summer and fall. It’s so incredibly satisfying picking fruits and then preserving them so they can be enjoyed for weeks after peak season! First I made a batch of yellow plum jam with simply vanilla and sugar, but then I got a feeling that I wanted to make another batch and make it extra ✨special✨ by adding cardamom! Because if you haven’t noticed, I absolutely LOVE adding cardamom to pretty much anything when I bake.
This Cardamom Vanilla Yellow Plum Jam is sooo quick and easy to make. I used jam sugar which already has all the properties needed to properly preserve fruit and berries for jam. Then I used very ripe and fresh yellow plums. To make this jam extra special, I added freshly ground cardamom and some vanilla to really give this jam a lovely flavour. If you don’t have cardamom, just add vanilla and this jam will still be amazing! Enjoy this Cardamom Vanilla Yellow Plum Jam with butter and toast, scones, or with plant based yogurt! Or maybe in baking? No matter what you choose it will be delicious! Enjoy!

Cardamom Vanilla Yellow Plum Jam
Ingredients
- 460 g ripe yellow plums
- 250 g jam sugar *
- 1 tsp freshly ground cardamom
- 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
Instructions
- Wash the plums.
- Slice the plums and take out the pits.
- Add the plums and jam sugar to a pot. Cook the mixture on medium heat and stir frequently.
- Meanwhile, take the cardamom seeds and grind with a mortar and pestle until it's finely ground. Then add the cardamom to the jam.
- Once the fruit has softened a bit use a potato masher and mash the fruit.
- Add the vanilla and keep stirring the jam often until the water has reduced and the plums are very soft. This should take about 10-15 minutes total, depending on how thick you like your jam or how much water content is in the plums.
- The jam is ready when it has thickened. Remove from heat. If you don't like peel in your jam you can use a sieve and strain the peel from the jam, but I didn't think it was needed. All the fruit pieces become so soft.
- Store this jam in a clean, tightly sealed container. Enjoy!
